  1. Upper Marlboro, MD (13 January 1992) -- InternetiX, Inc. announced today a
  2. new version of its LANSlM-LANAI Performance Toolset for the Novell
  3. LANalyzer. The new Toolset will allow LANalyzer and LANSIM users to base
  4. their network design and capacity planning simulations on real network
  5. traffic captured by the LANalyzer.

  7. LANSIM is a detailed, event-stepped simulator of the dynamic response and
  8. performance of a LAN under traffic loads, and is a powerful tool for the
  9. planning and design of Local Area Networks. LANAI is an interface tool
  10. which extracts activity workloads from analyzer capture files for modeling
  11. of network traffic in LANSIM. InternetiX will be demonstrating the
  12. LANSIM-LANAI Toolset at ComNet, January 28-30, 1992 in Washington, DC. The
  13. Toolset is expected to ship in February, 1992.

  15. According to lnternetiX President, Andrew Jazwinski, "People have been
  16. calling their LAN analyzer manufacturers asking for an interface to
  17. LANSIM. To meet this need we have published a LANAI Portability Kit which
  18. we are making available to analyzer manufacturers under cooperative
  19. development agreements. Because of LANalyzer's leadership position in the
  20. market, its intelligent system capabilities and ease of use, and requests
  21. from our LANSIM users, we decided to develop the LANalyzer interface at
  22. this time."

  24. "Network managers want to be able to simulate their installed LAN as a
  25. baseline, before using LANSIM for capacity planning work," said Jazwinski.
  26. "They want to validate "What Is" before using LANSIM to simulate various
  27. "What If?" scenarios. And to do that, they have to faithfully model the
  28. various traffic activities on their network. LANAI allows them to do that.
  29. The Novell LANalyzer, together with the LANSIM-LANAI Toolset now permits
  30. LAN planners and managers to base growth planning simulations on real
  31. traffic projections from their installed LANs."

  34. requests from a number of our users," said Duane Murray, Vice President
  35. and General Manager of Novell's Network Management Products Division. "The
  36. LANSIM-LANAI Toolset for LANalyzer expands LANalyzer's ability as a
  37. network planning system."

  39. The February release of the LANSIM-LANAI Toolset also includes support for
  40. the Network General Sniffer analyzer and the SpiderAnalyzer. In addition,
  41. Wandel & Goltermann is planning to develop a LANAI interface to its DA-30
  42. Analyzer, and Intel's new analyzer will support the LANAI data formats.
